Job Description

DataArt’s new client is one of the leaders in the online trading and finance domain. They’ve been working in this industry since 2003, providing trading and investment services to clients worldwide. The headquarters of the company is located in London. Our team is helping the client to replace the trading platform middleware with a brand-new micro-services architecture. By joining this greenfield project, your role will be to help with the migration from obsolete technologies and hardware, resulting in a highly resilient system. You will be working in a flexible and dynamic Agile team. The technologies that are used are Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and Git. We hire people not for a project, but for the company. If the project (or your work in it) is over, you go to another project or to a paid “Idle”.

Job responsibilities

• Participating in the daily stand-up to provide a status update on your current item in sprint, your commitment for the day, and to highlight any impediments
• Swarming with the team to tackle an impediment affecting sprint progress, making use of whiteboards or online applications like Miro
• Using TDD to develop your current feature branch
• Reviewing pull requests raised by other developers in your team and offering suggestions for improvement while reducing the amount of technical debt
• Participate in pair programming
• Liaise with stakeholders and provide guidance on how to interpret complex requirements and translate these into usable interfaces
• Participate in architectural discussions with backend teams to determine the best approach
• Provide the QA team with testing notes and collaborate to get your feature deployed to a testing environment
• Work on any story bugs raised and get these checked in our testing environments
• Release your code in production

Required qualifications

• Expert knowledge of HTML, JavaScript (ES6+), Unit Testing and CSS (Less, PostCSS) backed by 3+ years of commercial experience
• Direct experience with Drupal, Acquia Cloud or related technologies: PHP, SQL, NoSQL
• Professional knowledge of React
• Webpack experience and are comfortable configuring local front end development environments
• Knowledge of JavaScript outside of popular frameworks
• Expert-level familiarity with modern web performance issues
• Solid understanding of the impact of performance on SEO
• Experience with an enterprise-level CMS or DXP
• Experience with network, audit and performance tabs in Chrome
• Exposure to Node and are comfortable creating middleware scripts
• Familiarity with measuring web performance and experience in connecting code performance weak spots to performance improvements
• Experience with continuous integration developing deployment pipelines
• Proactive and self-motivated mindset
• Willingness to learn more about new technologies of the financial industry
• Familiarity with Scrum best practices
• Spoken English

Nice to have

• Experience creating scalable front-end solutions
• Experience in using Git, Jira and Bitbucket
• Experience in working with web components (Stencil)
• An interest in headless CMS solutions
• Working knowledge of web sockets
• The ability to execute effectively in a demanding high-pressure environment
• An ability to process requests in an efficient manner and translate complex requirements from stakeholders
• Good documentation skills
